When I was in Nottingham last year I took a quick snap of the Periodic Table of Nottingham where all element symbols stand for something associated with the city. I looked at sulfur, S, to see if it stood for Shaw (but it is Standard Hill) but didn’t have time to study the table much further at that point. On coming back to the picture I am delighted to spot that caesium, Cs, has been assigned to Colonel Shaw; an element that is appropriately explosive when mixed with water as this Periodic Video shows:

Good to see the “Trip” is recognised too, as are a few other old haunts!
